Okay, well first, let me tell you a little bit about myself…
My name’s Marcus Dauberman, I’m 31 years old, and as you can see from my picture, I’m in pretty good shape these days. It wasn’t always like that though…
Throughout my teens and most of my 20’s, I had this belly fat that I just couldn’t seem to shift. At school, when we would shower after playing sport, I would get teased about my flabby belly. How to Burn Fat Whilst Staying Healthy November 5th, 2009
These days everyone is trying to find out how to burn fat. However, we must remember that it is also important to remain healthy while we burn that fat.
Whether you’re looking specifically to lose belly fat, or just want to generally get more in shape, here are some good tips to help you burn fat whilst staying healthy…
- Not all fat is bad. Whilst many people who want to reduce body fat think that reducing all dietary fat is the key issue, it is really only Saturdated Fat we need to be concerned about. Other fats, such as Polyunsaturated Fat and Monounsaturated Fat are actually healthy fats, and are needed by the body to remain healthy. Fat will also help control your appetite.
- Consider strength training at least twice a week for half an hour. This means weight bearing exercises in the gym or on home equipment. Increased muscle mass means an increased metabolism, meaning you’re more likely to burn fat.
- Reduce your intake of processed foods. Try to only eat foods that have a high nutrient value and have not been processed or had any additives added to them.
- Incorporate cardio exercise into the your regime. Do 5 minutes of warm-up, then run for 1 minute fast, then 1 minute slow, and alternate like this until you have done 20 minutes.
- Eat more often. Rather than 3 meals a day, try to eat 5 or 6 smaller meals spread throughout the day. This will keep your with weight reduction.
- Try to exercise 3-4 times per week.
- Increase your intake of protein, but make sure it is healthy protein. Try to stay away from meats with lots of saturated fat.
- Try to find ways to make physical exercise fun, and try to incorporate physical activity into your daily life.
- Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, as they contain the nutrients needed by your body for optimum performance.
- Make sure you eat a balance of the following types of food at every meal: protein, carbohydrate, fat.
- Drink plenty of water. Water not only flushes out toxins from your system, making you healthier, it makes you feel fuller which will cause you to eat less. When we feel hungry, we are often actually thirsty. So always reach for some water before you reach for the food.
- Eat more fiber. Fiber helps to keep you feeling fuller for longer. It also flushes LDL cholesterol out of your body, and helps keep your digestive system in good working order.
- Keep away from fast food. Fast food is definitely not the way to go if you want to lose belly fat or generally lose weight.
- Eat slower. There is a 20 minute delay between your stomach feeling full and your brain getting the message that it is full. If you eat too fast, you will eat more than your body needs, making weight loss a far more difficult task.
- Eat oily fish, which is high in Omega 3 fatty acid. This keeps your heart healthy and helps keep the bad fat out.
- Exercise first thing in the morning, before breakfast, even if it’s just a brisk local walk. Exercise at this time will force the body to burn fat.

Extreme Weight Loss – Why It’s a Bad Idea To Lose Weight Too Quickly November 5th, 2009
Extreme weight loss is extremely bad for your health. There’s no getting around this fact. Forms of extreme weight loss include: vomiting, laxatives, and skipping meals. With so many skinny celebrities and magazine models giving us an unrealistic (and in all honesty, unhealthy) set of expectations to live up to, it’s no wonder people are looking for more extreme ways to lose weight, and in particular, how to lose belly fat.
And with obesity widespread these days, which brings its own set of health problems, and with many people wishing they could get a six pack, it is clear to see why so many people feel the need to rapidly bring their weight down. However the fact remains that reducing your weight too quickly can be extremely unhealthy.
And this is the key issue here: health. Rather than looking for “magic bullet” dieting plans which cause people to reduce their weight dangerously quickly and then later put it all back on again, we should be thinking more about being HEALTHY. All the time. This will be far more beneficial to you than some kind of fast weight loss diet.
The key thing here is that the body needs regular food in order to be healthy. When you suddenly deprive the body of nutrients, your body goes into starvation mode. You metabolism (the rate at which you burn energy) slows waaaaaaayyyyy down, and you end up feeling lethargic and generally rubbish. And the lack of intact of sufficient nutrients will cause all kinds of health problems. This is certainly no recipe for effective weight loss or to reduce belly fat.
So take my advice – stay away from extreme diets. Even if you’re sick of the sight of your fat tummy and desperately want to lose belly fat quickly, don’t do it! Think more in terms of your overall health. Eat well, and get active!

Best Exercise to Lose Belly Fat – Is There Really Such a Thing? November 5th, 2009
Is there really such a thing as “the best exercise to lose belly fat“? Or is it all just a myth? Well, let’s find out…

As Ashleigh explains in this video (and yes, I agree, she really is fit isn’t she, in every sense of the word), losing belly fat is not just about doing a certain exercise. No, in order to lose stubborn belly fat is to use the demonstrated exercise in combination with good nutrition and overall strength training. It is also important to consider our abdominal posture, to ensure we are not pushing our abdominal area out further than we should be, which will give us the appearance of having a fatter belly than we would otherwise have. To correct this, bring your belly button in, and gently tuck your bum under.
Anyway, about the exercise. For anyone who, for whatever reason, is unable to watch the video above, here is how to do the exercise:
- Sit on the floor in a full sit-up position, with the knees bent and the arms straight out in front of you.
- Low yourself down slowly, keeping your back straight and your arms out in front of you.
- Sit back up again.
This belly fat reduction exercise can be done every morning. For beginners, start with maybe 3 or 4 repetitions of the exercise, and if you’re more advanced try to do between 15 and 25 repetitions of the exercise.
